In 2012/3, a commercial project was the M & E design to refurbish two adjoining blocks (7000m²) on Shelbourne Road with Fitzgerald Kavanagh & Partners. One of the blocks was updated as the new headquarters for IBM. There was a totally new mechanical and electrical installation with the air conditioning based on a high performance VRF refrigerant installation. Strict parameters were laid down as to the performance expected from the units and the level of control to be achieved. We have received very positive feedback from IBM and markedly improved the buildings energy demand due to the AC system selected, the centralised time schedule control and the installation of heat recovery wheels on the new AHU’s.
